Tennessee Line Band at 2014 St. Jude's Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon

Tennessee Line Band entertains marathon participants on the 23 mile marker on Stage 23B at Shelby Park in Nashville.

As the marathon talent coordinators have it, we shared a stage playing alternately with a wonderful music duo, Sabrina & Tony. What a unique venue/gig and it was lots of fun!

Picture this: a city wide marathon where routes are carefully mapped and marked off from traffic by 6:30 a.m. Picture bands and musicians arriving at their respective stages for the day's performances no later than 6:30 a.m. and sound engineers already gearing up for the day's events.

We arrived EARLY, like some time between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. Although it's only about a 45 minute drive where we live, we like to avoid any unforeseen traffic delays once we arrived and found our parking spot, to we camped out in the wee hours of that morning, excited about the day's events to come. The sound engineer was testing his system set-up and playing a cool track of rock music, waking the surrounding the neighborhood no doubt and why not. They were going to have front row seats to a very unique urban marathon.

In this event, there is a stage set at every mile of the race so while tired participants are plowing through the course, they get to enjoy 26 unique mini-concerts to help keep the feet moving!

Sabrina and Joe are talented musicians, both playing guitars and singing originals and cool cover songs. We found ourselves singing along.

We were amazed that participants had the energy to wave at us, let alone clap and cheer us on! Well, I could write so much more of this unique event but I'll close for now. We loved our time there and we certainly hope to play there again next year.

Check out our upcoming shows at Tennessee Line Band .

Until next time, take good care everybody, come see us perform, we'd love to meet you!
