Tennessee Line's Randy Wayne Dallas at Ernest Tubb Record Shop

Randy Wayne Dallas has a long music history and agreed to share this story of a wonderful experience on Nashville's Music Row.

During the 1970's, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Nashville with my Dad to Music Row and visit Ernest Tubbs' Record Shop. I walked in and saw all of the records and music in there and was so excited.

Moments later, a salesman came out from the back of the store and asked us if we needed any help. I said that this was our first time in the store and we loved it.

I bought a bluegrass music book and began to leave..Then I stopped.. I looked up and saw many guitars up on the high wall over the front window.

I said Sir, Are those guitars for sale? He said they sure are..would you like to play one? I said yes but I am not a very good player.

He said, "That's Ok" He brought this HUGE red electric Gibson guitar down off the wall and placed it carefully on my lap.

He said, "Son do you know who this guitar belongs too?" No, Sir, I said.

The man said, "Roy Clark" My fingers trembled on the frets when I played it!

I wished that I could have bought it, but I was very young and had only allowance money.

I am so happy to have that memory!
